What you will learn on
Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra
To ‘rest’, to ‘relax’ and to ‘restore’ is a natural vital process in our lives. Rest supports optimal physiological functioning and promotes healing and growth. During rest, one’s autonomic nervous system switches from sympathetic-dominance to parasympathetic-dominance, regeneration, and restoration is accelerated. Research has shown that relaxation and rest are essential to every one of all ages and cultures, size and shape. Whether your intention is to deepen personal understanding of restorative practices, or to offer it to family/friends, or to teach and share this healing practice, there will be comprehensive coverage of both the theoretical and practical application of Restorative Yoga in this module.
I first learned Yoga Nidra in my Satyananda Yoga Teacher training course with Muktanand Meanjin (1997); it was actually part of our assessment back then. I fell in love with Yoga Nidra, this ancient practice for the mind and body that is as powerful as it is subtle, especially having experienced the many benefits for my students and myself.
My aim is to provide you with the skills needed in creating an atmosphere that encourages students to let go of mental stress and fill you with a love for teaching this advanced practice to heal, restore, and rejuvenate.
